JOB OVERVIEWReporting to the Offshore Maintenance Supervisor, the Mechanical Technician will ensure that all equipment on the Terra Nova Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel is safely and effectively maintained in accordance with Terra Nova expectations, regulatory requirements and other relevant codes and standards. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESMaintain integrity and perform safe and efficient maintenance of all mechanical systems and equipment in accordance with established procedures Communicate and execute daily mechanical maintenance activities Gather data in support of equipment condition monitoring Participate in Journey to Zero programAct as a member of an offshore emergency response teamPerform duties of Second Engineer (Marine) during vessel buoy disconnectPerform other related duties as requiredREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSSuncor is committed to employment equity and encourages applications from all qualified individuals.Education and Experience:Minimum of Second Class Marine Engineer (Motor) certification requiredSpecialized Oil Tanker Training Endorsement requiredFive to 10 years related experience in an industrial maintenance environmentOffshore experience is preferred Skills and Knowledge:Experience with the operation and maintenance of gas turbine driven generators, diesel engines, multi-stage centrifugal pumps and compressors, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, hydraulic systems and associated auxiliary equipment Experience with the application of computerized maintenance management systems Working knowledge of regulatory and industry codes applicable to the mechanical and marine disciplines, process related mechanical equipment, preventive and predictive maintenance and condition monitoring Ability to read relevant technical drawings and piping specifications Familiarity with the theory and practice of rotating equipment, vibration analysis and quality processes Understanding of Control of Work processes and systems Machinist skills would be an asset Effective written, oral and computerized communication skills Ability to recognize and resolve conflictQualified residents of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador will be given first consideration in the staffing of this position.WORKING CONDITIONSPosition works12-hour shifts for 21 days on a rotational basis in an offshore environment on the Terra Nova FPSO; therefore, the successful candidate must maintain mandatory training and certification for continued offshore workADDITIONAL INFORMATIONPay Rate in accordance with Appendix A of the Collective Agreement between Terra Nova Employers' Organization and Unifor Local 2121WHY SUNCOR
