JOB OVERVIEWReporting to the Offshore Maintenance Supervisor, the Electrical Technician will ensure that electrical equipment is safely and effectively maintained in accordance with Terra Nova and regulatory expectations, and other relevant codes and standards. The Electrical Technician will assist, where competent, other team members in the safe and efficient operation of the Terra Nova Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESMaintain integrity and perform safe and efficient maintenance of all electrical systems and equipment in accordance with established proceduresPlan, coordinate and communicate daily electrical maintenance activities effectivelyAdhere to permit to work system while carrying out maintenance activitiesRespond quickly and effectively to problems/breakdownsGather data in support of equipment condition monitoring Understand and follow all rules and proceduresReport all accidents, near misses and hazardous conditionsParticipate in Suncor's Journey to Zero programsDemonstrate willingness to train and be part of an offshore emergency response teamMaintain mandatory training and certification for continued offshore workREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSSuncor is committed to employment equity and encourages applications from all qualified individuals.Education and Experience:Certification as a Journeyman Industrial Electrician (with inter-provincial status if from out of province) or Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology required; preference may be given to individuals who possess bothFive to 10 years' related experience in an industrial maintenance environment (offshore or petro-chemical/refinery industry) preferredSkills and Knowledge:Working knowledge of regulatory and industry codes applicable to the electrical disciplineExperience with High Voltage/Low Voltage (HV/LV) power generation and distribution systems, Alternating Current/Direct Current (AC/DC) drive systems and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) controlsUnderstanding of computerized maintenance management systems and Control of Work Processes and SystemsFamiliarity with quality processes Ability to handle adverse shutdown/equipment failures and the ability to react in stressful situationsAbility to recognize and resolve conflictDemonstrated teamwork behaviors consistent with Suncor valuesEffective oral, written and computerized communication skillsQualified residents of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador will be given first consideration in the staffing of this position.WORKING CONDITIONSPosition works 12-hour shifts for 21 days on a rotational basis in an offshore environment on the Terra Nova FPSOPosition is subject to periods of continuous walking, stair-climbing, standing, bending and stretching; physical demands of position can be highADDITIONAL INFORMATIONPay rate in accordance with Appendix A of the Collective Agreement between Terra Nova Employers' Organization & Unifor Local 2121WHY SUNCOR
